Top 10 hiking spots in California and tips for scoring a campsite this summer

Camping at Lake Crescent Olympic National Park

There’s still a nip in the air and spring isn’t quite here yet, but online camping reservations have already opened up for many state and national parks and popular campsites are being snapped up! Most parks allow campground bookings to be made 6 months in advance, although that varies for ultra-popular parks like Yosemite National Park which has a sliding window of 3-4 months open for reservation.

Planning is key to having a great summer outdoors, whether it’s strolling amidst a redwood grove or hiking along a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Read my comprehensive article on how to make camping reservations for summer at my Trailbound blog. And if you’re not yet sure on which parks to visit, here’s a great list of top 10 of my favorite hiking spots in California.

Where are you going to be hiking and camping this summer? Would love to hear from you in the comments!
